Lead Multilingual Classrooms with Dual Teaching Credentials

With Pace’s combined bachelor in childhood education and TESOL master’s program, you’ll be ready to teach grades 1–6 and support English language learners (preK–12) through specialized instruction. This dual-certification program equips you to foster both academic success and cultural understanding in diverse classrooms.

Starting in your sophomore year, you’ll engage in hands-on fieldwork, tutoring students and practicing lesson design under the mentorship of experienced educators. Through immersive teaching placements, you’ll develop strategies for teaching core subjects and integrating English language support.

By your junior year, the Center for Professional Development (CPD) model provides expanded opportunities for in-class experience. You’ll work directly with multilingual students, observing classroom interactions, leading small group instruction, and eventually teaching full lessons.

You’ll also have access to Pace’s cutting-edge virtual reality classroom simulator, enabling you to refine your teaching skills and gain confidence before entering real classrooms. With strong ties to local schools, our graduates often secure teaching positions before graduation, making an immediate impact in schools across New York and beyond.

AVÌìÌà Real Experience in the Classroom

Because experience is key, starting in your junior year, you will participate in our Center for Professional Development (CPD) model where you will practice your teaching skills through the completion of your undergraduate program. Receive hands-on experience in schools one day a week in your junior year and between two and five days during your senior year.

You’ll observe and tutor students, as well as provide small and eventually whole group instruction. Not only will you be able to apply what you are learning in the classroom, but also have the opportunity to explore different grade levels as you proceed through the program. As a CPD candidate, you have a unique opportunity to foster professional relationships with mentor teachers, students, and school staff, all in support of the diverse population of the students that you are serving.

Careers

Upon graduating from the program, you will become certified to teach Childhood Education (grades 1–6) and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) all grades (pre-k–12). Our strong partnerships with local school districts mean that our students are getting hired before they even graduate.

As a Pace student, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with our robust career services team to develop a career plan that best fits your goals.

Alumni Spotlight

After working with Pace for my undergraduate degree I noticed a serious demand for teachers with TESOL certifications. Pace has offered me the ability to work on my degree while being active in my community with learning experiences that have made me into a better teacher.
